Testing methods for self-adhesive printing paper

Testing of self-adhesive printing paper includes paper thickness, basis weight, surface flatness, and dimensional accuracy of roll or flat labels. Professional measuring tools ensure that the printing paper will not curl, wrinkle, or deviate in size during printing and application, thus guaranteeing print quality and label adhesion stability. Release properties of the backing paper are also checked to ensure the adhesive layer can be easily peeled off without damaging the printed surface.

 

Adhesion and sealing tests are performed. Standardized tensile or peel tests measure the initial tack, peel force, and holding power of the pressure-sensitive adhesive, ensuring stable label adhesion on various surfaces. For specific applications, water resistance, oil resistance, temperature resistance, and chemical corrosion resistance tests are also conducted to verify whether the self-adhesive printing paper can maintain its adhesiveness and sealing effect in real-world environments, preventing labels from falling off or becoming ineffective during use.

 

Printability and readability testing includes checking the clarity, drying speed, color fastness, and scanability of barcodes and QR codes for inkjet, laser, or thermal printing. The paper is also checked for smudging, fading, or peeling after printing to ensure long-term label readability.
