The Production Process Of Shrink Sleeve Labels

Mar 20, 2026

The process begins with raw material preparation and film extrusion. Depending on product requirements, thermoplastic films such as PVC, PET, OPS, or POF are selected and formed into a uniform film material through extrusion or casting processes. Subsequently, the film undergoes stretching and heat setting to maintain a relaxed state at room temperature, ensuring good heat shrinkage properties for subsequent printing and cutting operations.

Next comes the printing and pattern processing stage. The film undergoes full-color printing, spot UV coating, hot stamping, or matte finishing processes to create brand patterns, barcodes, product information, or promotional content. After printing, to ensure shrinkage effect and pattern integrity, a surface coating or protective film treatment is applied to enhance abrasion resistance, water resistance, and chemical corrosion resistance.

Finally, slitting, inspection, and rolling are performed. The printed film is cut to the required width and length for labeling, forming rolls or sheets for use in automated packaging lines. Quality inspections are also conducted during production, including dimensional accuracy, shrinkage performance, print clarity, and adhesion. Qualified label sleeves are rolled or packaged before leaving the factory and can be directly used for heat shrink packaging of bottles or other packaging materials to achieve efficient, neat, and aesthetically pleasing labeling results.
